Profile

Dr Chew Si Yuan is currently a Consultant at the Department of Respiratory and Critical Care Medicine, Singapore General Hospital, SGH.

Dr Chew obtained his medical degree from the National University of Singapore (NUS) in 2011. He was awarded his membership to the Royal Colleges of Physicians, UK and the Royal Colleges of Surgeons, Edinburgh in 2013 and 2015 respectively. He has also attained the Graduate Diploma in Family Medicine from NUS in 2016, and Specialty Certificate Examinations in Acute Medicine and Respiratory Medicine from the Royal Colleges of Physicians, UK in 2014 and 2016 respectively. He subsequently completed his specialty training in Respiratory Medicine in 2019 followed by Intensive Care Medicine in Singapore in 2020.

His main clinical and research interests include Intensive Care Medicine, chronic airway diseases, particularly Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD), and Pulmonary Rehabilitation. Currently, Dr Chew runs the COPD clinic and the Intensive Care Unit at SGH.

Medical education is one of his key interests and he views teaching as one of the highest forms of learning. In this era of increasing medical subspecialisation, Dr Chew strongly believes in the importance of multidisciplinary cross-training in the provision of holistic and patient-centred care.
