Profile

Professor Woo Keng Thye, MBBS (NUS), M Med, FRACP (Nephrology) was trained at the Royal Melbourne Hospital in Australia. He is Emeritus Consultant and Advisor to Dept of Renal Medicine, Singapore General Hospital is also Clinical Professor in Medicine at the National University of Singapore. 

He has been a practicing Nephrologist for more than 30 years. He has been Head, Dept of Renal Medicine at the Singapore General Hospital from 1989 – 2002 and Chairman, Division of Medicine from 2000 to 2003. He was Chairman of the National Medical Research Council from 2003 – 2006 and is presently on the Board of Directors of the National Kidney Foundation since 2005. He has published extensively and has authored several books including kidney books, short stories and novels 2007. His hobbies include writing and culturing bonsai.

Publications

Since 1976 he has been involved in research in kidney diseases in the area of Immunology Proteimuria and for past 8 years in Genomics and Proteinuria. Areas of interest include IgA nephritis and other forms of glomerulonephritis. Have focused on drug therapy and clinical trials to retard and prevent renal failure.
