A/Prof Jeyaraj Prema Raj heads the SingHealth Duke-NUS Transplant Centre and is a Senior Consultant in Hepatopancreatobiliary (HPB) and Transplant Surgery at Singapore General Hospital (SGH). With over 25 years of experience, he has shaped Singapore's transplant landscape, pioneering Hepatopancreatobiliary (HPB) and Transplant Surgery in Singapore. 

Trained internationally under renowned experts in Paris and Kobe, A/Prof Prema Raj established liver transplantation programs at SGH and Mount Elizabeth Hospital. Since 2015, as Director of SGH's Liver Transplant Programme, he has pioneered new techniques in Living Donor Liver Transplantation and ABO-incompatible transplants.

In 2022, A/Prof Prema Raj was instrumental in Singapore's first successful intestinal transplant, making SingHealth the only centre in Southeast Asia with this capability. Under his leadership, the team has completed four living donor intestinal transplants as of December 2024. 

His research interests include leveraging digital data and AI for pre and post-transplantation care. A/Prof Prema Raj champions the education of transplant coordinators and allied healthcare personnel, considering it crucial for transplant success. His team is recognized as one of the few Intestinal Rehabilitation and Transplant Association (IRTA) chapters worldwide. He is passionate about building up a team for the future of transplantation in Singapore.

A/Prof Prema Raj's vision includes developing a National Multivisceral Transplant Service and establishing Singapore as a regional transplantation Centre of Excellence.
