Chemotherapy

  • Medication given through the veins to treat your whole body.
  • Usually given over 3 - 6 months.
  • It may be used:
    1. After surgery (adjuvant chemotherapy)
      • This is to decrease the risk of breast cancer coming back to tissues distant from the breast.
    2. Before surgery (neoadjuvant chemotherapy)
      • It is given to shrink large tumours before surgery.
