Different Chest Pains and Potential Complications |

While it is sometimes difficult to determine the cause of a chest pain, in some higher risk patients, unexplained and sudden chest pains often indicate underlying heart problems.
Types of chest pain could include angina pain, pulmonary embolism, aortic dissection, chest wall pain or an impending heart attack.
A chest pain lasting more than 15 to 20 minutes at rest, or if accompanied by nausea, sweating, shortness of breath or a loss of consciousness, requires emergency assistance.

Potentially Fatal Aortic Dissection: Risks and Diagnosis |

|
The prevalence of aortic dissection in the general population is about 2.5 to 5 cases per 100,000 people, with the National Heart Centre Singapore treating about 15 to 20 cases each year.
Certain congenital diseases, such as Marfan’s syndrome, bicuspid aortic valve, aortic aneurysm and atherosclerosis, can also increase the risk of aortic dissection.

Prostate cancer is the 3rd most common cancer diagnosed in local men, accounting for 12% of all male cancers diagnosed from 2008 to 2018.
Males in Singapore have a higher rate of prostate cancer than their counterparts in Asia, such as China, Japan and India, although the rates are still much lower than those in the US, UK and Australia.
