SBRT: An Advanced Radiotherapy Technique
For Prostate Cancer
Traditional radiotherapy has long been established as one of the standard treatments for prostate cancer. Over the past decades, technological advancements have allowed radiotherapy to be given at the level of precision within millimeters, enabling the development of an advanced technique – Stereotactic Body Radiation Therapy (SBRT).
While traditional radiotherapy requires daily treatments for a total of 37-39 sessions and an entire course duration of up to two months, SBRT can deliver much larger radiation doses for each treatment, and complete the entire radiotherapy course in as short as five sessions with excellent clinical outcomes.
The National Cancer Centre Singapore (NCCS) is the first centre in Singapore to offer SBRT for early stage localised prostate cancer, after analysis and confirmation of efficacy and safety in local data and international long-term data.
