About the Speaker​

 

Prof Ian CURRAN

Prof Ian Curran is the Vice Dean of Education, Duke-NUS Medical School, Singapore. Previously, he was Assistant Director of Education and Professional Standards at the UK General Medical Council, where he led education policy and standards development, curriculum approval and the quality assurance of postgraduate medical education across the UK.
 
Prof Curran trained as an Anaesthetist with an interest in chronic pain management and was appointed Consultant at St Bartholomew’s Hospital in 2003. He was appointed Professor of Innovation and Excellence in Healthcare Education at Queen Mary University of London in 2014. He is a Visiting Professor at the King’s Learning Institute, King’s College London and Cass Business School, City University, University of London.
 
Prof Curran is a Harvard Macy Scholar and visiting member of faculty. He was previously the Postgraduate Dean of Educational Excellence and Head of Innovation for London, as well as a clinical adviser to the UK Department of Health, NHS England and Health Education England.
