Mr Ferooz Sekandarpoor has over 18 years of experience as an IT professional, Simulation Technology Specialist and AV Specialist in Healthcare and in the Academic environment. As an integral member of MedIT Faculty of Medicine, UBC, he provides simulation technology leadership and expertise for the health professions education programs within the faculty. His role supports the development of strategic and operational planning, as well as designing of simulation spaces in the Faculty of Medicine and its affiliates within the province of British Columbia.
Mr Sekandarpoor was the chair of BC Simulation Network from 2014 to 2018, a provincial community of practice to aid British Columbia-based simulation centres with a forum to discuss and advance ideas in the intersection of health professions simulation and technology. Mr Sekandarpoor also previously worked as an IT manager at the Centre of Excellence for Simulation Education and Innovation, one of the very first centres to be accredited by American College of Surgeons, USA, and the Royal College of the Physicians and Surgeons of Canada.
In recognition of his passion for Simulation Technology, Mr Sekandarpoor was elected as President of The Gathering of Healthcare Simulation Technology Specialists (SimGHOSTS), an international simulation organisation based in the USA, which provides annual hands-on training to those operating simulation-based technology. His responsibilities include leadership as a member of the Board, with the primary focus of providing educational content to the simulation technology community.
