Speakers: Prof Debra Nestel
Date: 24 October 2019 (Thu) | Time: 1510 - 1640 Location: Academia, Level 1, L1-S3

In this workshop, we consider ways to support Simulated Patients (SP) in maximising their contributions to the learning of healthcare professionals and students. We will be able to identify processes through insightful conversations after a simulation activity. After sharing the nature of contributions that SPs can make to the learning of healthcare professionals and students, these will be further explored relative to participants’ experiences. We will develop strategies to facilitate maximal learning that is mediated by SPs, beyond the debriefing post-encounter. Resources will also be shared to further develop participants’ practices.

Learning Objectives:
  1. Identify the nature of contributions of SPs to the learning of healthcare professionals and students
  2. Develop strategies to facilitate maximal learning mediated by SPs through conversation
