About the Speaker​

 

Prof Fernando BELLO

Visiting Professor of Technology Enhanced Learning and Innovation

Prof Fernando Bello is a computer scientist and engineer working at the intersection of medicine, education and technology. He obtained his PhD in Biomedical Systems from Imperial College London, where he is Professor of Surgical Computing and Simulation Science within the Department of Surgery and Cancer. In August 2019, he joined Duke-NUS Medical School in Singapore as a Visiting Professor of Technology Enhanced Learning and Innovation within the Office of Education.

Prof Bello is particularly interested in the use of virtual/mixed reality environments and haptics in the context of education and training, the pioneering of advanced patient specific simulation in surgical procedures and clinical examinations, online and mobile simulation tools, as well as innovative approaches to contextualised simulation. He has been involved in several simulation-based training programmes in the UK and abroad and has published widely in technological, medical and educational journals. He has also served as a referee for a number of international journals and national research organisations.
