SINGHEALTH DUKE-NUS AMC RESEARCHERS WIN NATIONAL RESEARCH AWARDS
We would like to extend our heartiest congratulations to our clinician-scientists and researchers, who received national grants and research awards at today's National Medical Research Council (NMRC) Awards Ceremony.
SingHealth Duke-NUS AMC teams secure $75 million grant funding
This year, two NCCS research teams and one team from SERI, namely SYMPHONY 2.0, Colo-SCRIPT, and TAAP-2, each secured S$25 million funding under the Open Fund-Large Collaborative Grant (OF-LCG), a national competitive research grant that supports teams from public institutions, who advance research for improved human health and wellness.
NCCS research projects
SYMPHONY 2.0 (Singapore lYMPHoma translatiONal studY 2.0), a research programme led by Professor Lim Soon Thye, will address unmet needs in Asian-centric lymphomas and improve patients' outcomes by developing cost-effective, accessible and innovative treatment modalities.
Colo-SCRIPT (Colorectal cancer subtype-specific research informs phenotypes, diagnostics & treatments) is a research programme led by Associate Professor Iain Tan Bee Huat that looks into harnessing the biology of each subtype of colorectal cancer to develop strategies tailored to each subtype for prevention, early detection and treatment.
SERI research project
TAAP-2 (Translational Asian Age-related Macular Degeneration Programme Phase 2), a research programme led by Professor Gemmy Cheung, will look into developing proactive ways to detect, monitor and prevent age-related macular degeneration earlier.
NMRC award winners
We also recognise 16 clinician-scientists and researchers from our AMC who have won talent development awards under the Singapore Translational Research Investigator Award, Clinician-Scientist Award, HPHSR (Health Promotion, Preventive Health, Population Health & Health Services Research) Clinician-Scientist Award and Clinician-Innovator Award categories. These awards are presented to talented individuals who lead internationally competitive, cutting-edge and novel translational and clinical research.
In addition, 20 of our clinician-scientists received the Transition Award and NMRC Research Training Fellowship. Collectively, these awards and programmes transform medicine and improve patient care, enabling a healthier future for Singapore and beyond.
Please join us in congratulating all our award recipients for their hard work and dedication to advancing research to improve health outcomes!
