Rehabilitation FAQs



​When preparing for your stay at SCH Rehab, pack comfortable clothing, toiletries, and any personal items that may aid your recovery. 

During your inpatient stay, expect regular therapy sessions, assessments, and a structured routine to optimise your rehabilitation. Your care team will work closely with you to set achievable goals and monitor your progress.

Prepare Your Stay for SCH Rehab

Do remember to bring a pair of comfortable covered shoes or sandals (with back strap) for use during therapy sessions.
Therapy services are conducted either in individual or group sessions. The therapist in-charge will assess and recommend the suitable treatment.
Everyone's condition and progression is different. Clinical care team will discuss, plan and recommend the estimated length of stay within a week from admission.

During Inpatient Stay

Based on the individual needs, the therapist in-charge will recommend the frequency of therapy sessions accordingly.
Yes, the identified carer and main spokesperson (MSP) may be asked to attend the session as part of caregiver training. Arrangement of the timing (from Monday to Fridays, 8.30am to 5pm) can be made with the therapist in-charge. It is highly encouraged for the identified carer and MSP to play an active role in the rehabilitation journey.
Patient’s progress is reviewed by rehab team based on the goals to be achieved and the needs of the patient. This will be discussed with the clinical care team regularly, to ensure the readiness for home. Patient would then be updated by the clinical team on the progress.

Prepare for Discharge

In readiness for home, considerations such as equipment, home environment and community services will be discussed with the clinical care team, the patient and/or MSP and/or identified carer.
The therapists will be able to advise the patient and MSP/identified carer on the equipment required, based on the needs of the patient, and the various methods of purchasing the equipment.
Therapists will conduct caregiver training to the identified carer so that he/she is able to continue to care for you after discharge. Patients who need it would be advised to attend further exercises at day rehab centres near the home
