Dr Tan Kiak Mien Veronique
National Cancer Centre Singapore
Division of Surgical Oncology
Senior Consultant
MBBS, MMed (Surgery), MSc, FRCS(Edinburgh)

Dr. Veronique Tan is Chief of Breast Service in the Division of Surgical Oncology, National Cancer Centre Singapore and at the Department of General Surgery, Singapore General Hospital. She also serves as Head, SingHealth Duke-NUS Breast Centre.

In 2013, Dr Tan was awarded the Health Manpower Development Program (HMDP) Award to pursue a year-long Fellowship in Oncoplastic Breast Surgery at the Nottingham Breast Institute, UK. She is one of the few breast surgeons in Singapore formally trained in this discipline where breast oncologic surgery is combined with plastic surgical techniques to ensure a good aesthetic outcome. Dr Tan believes that the appearance of the breast after cancer removal is important, and that every patient should have a tailored, individualized surgical solution. As an Oncoplastic Breast Surgeon, she offers surgical expertise in breast reshaping and breast reconstruction after breast cancer removal.

Active in research and teaching, Dr Tan is (Adj) Assistant Professor at the DukeNUS Graduate Medical School and Clinical Senior Lecturer at the Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine. Her research interest is in breast cancer, in particular breast cancer in young women and genetic breast cancers. Dr Tan is regularly invited to speak at regional and international conferences where she presents her work and surgical techniques. She has published numerous articles in peer-reviewed journals and contributed several book chapters on oncoplastic and reconstructive breast surgery.

Dr. Veronique’s practice covers benign breast conditions, the diagnosis and surgical treatment of symptomatic and screen-detected breast cancer, oncoplastic breast surgery and breast reconstruction.
