Pavitar is a part-time Research Associate and is currently working on systematic literature reviews on Health Literacy, and Depression in Chronic Disease. She is undertaking a part-time PhD in Health Research with the Institute of Health Research at Lancaster University, UK, and her research topic is "Living with Crohn's Disease : Coping Mechanisms in a Singaporean Population". Her current interests are in multi-disciplinary qualitative work involving literature, language, health communication and chronic disease.
Pavitar graduated at the top of her class for the BA (English) final exams at the University of Malaya, Kuala Lumpur and subsequently pursued an MA in Linguistics at the University of Leeds, UK. She worked at the Singapore Broadcasting Corporation as a Researcher/Producer for a couple of years.
When not wondering about how the chronically ill cope, Pavitar spends time with her 4 children and supportive husband. She loves scrabble, jigsaw puzzles and crossword puzzles (the non cryptic kind).
