Veena Joshi has worked in India, Kenya and Singapore. She has eight years of teaching experience. Her research experience spans more than 15 years and covers many areas. Her main interests are in study design, statistical methods, and data analysis. She was appointed as a consultant for an Indian Benchmark Study involving 2500 families (Drug abuse Prevalence and Perceptions in Manipur State, 1994). Over 2000 to 2004, Veena also handled health screening data of nearly 1 million episodes. She was the principal investigator for the three studies on “Barriers to smoking cessation”.
Veena received her PhD (Sociology – Industrial Psychology), MSc (Biometry, Applied Statistics), and BSc (Mathematics) from the University of Pune, India. While in India, Veena was a national table tennis player and was among one of the top 4 players ’under 16 years’ category. She has won silver medals in the ladies doubles and team championships at the national level. She plays table tennis as a hobby now and has represented the Singapore Ministry of Health in interministry tournaments, 2006.
Veena has a passion for music. She used to play the Sitar and had won the 1st prize for solo performance in Instrumental music in the Kenya music festival. Married to a Chemical Engineer, Veena has one son and a daughter residing in the US.
