Overview of Health Services Research
"Health services research as the multidisciplinary field of scientific investigation that studies how social factors, financing systems, organizational structures and processes, health technologies, and personal behaviors affect access to health care, the quality and cost of health care, and ultimately our health and well-being. Its research domains are individuals, families, organizations, institutions, communities, and populations." ~ AcademyHealth
Today, our Centre conducts health outcomes research, health technology assessments and systems design research and uses these findings to provide up-to-date analysis and leading edge thinking on important healthcare policy and practice issues. We work closely with clinicians, administrators and healthcare organizations as well as industry and other partners to provide pragmatic and insightful healthcare solutions. This collaborative approach ensures that solutions are both effective and efficient; yielding high-quality research that guides subsequent interventions that are cost-effective and practical.
