Cardiology

Within the SingHealth group, National Heart Centre Singapore, KK Women’s and Children’s Hospital, and Changi General Hospital offer the cardiology specialty which is concerned with the study, diagnosis, treatment and management of heart disorders.Cardiology is the medical specialty concerned with the study, diagnosis, treatment and management of heart disorders.  Cardiac subspecialties include clinical cardiology, interventional cardiology, heart failure, adult congenital heart disease, neonatal and paediatric cardiology.

Within the SingHealth group, National Heart Centre Singapore and KK Women’s and Children’s Hospital offer the specialty.

As a tertiary referral centre, National Heart Centre Singapore (NHCS) receives patients who require specialised cardiovascular care from other hospitals in Singapore and neighbouring countries. With the use of sophisticated equipment, the experienced team of cardiologists treats complex cases and sees the highest volume of patients with heart problems in Singapore.

KK Women's and Children's Hospital (KKH) also provides cardiology services as the main paediatric cardiology referral centre in Singapore.



Common Procedures


Treatment for Abnormal Heart Rhythm and Prevention of Cardiac Arrest (ICD Implantation)

Internal defibrillators are used in cases where a patient has shown consistent recurring risk of cardiac arrest or attack due to fibrillation. A heart specialist can determine whether you are in need of an internal defibrillator.

If you have been found to be at recurring risk for rhythm problems such as ventricular tachycardia (when the heart beats at a dangerously fast pace) or ventricular fibrillation (when the heartbeat is both fast and irregular), an AICD may be a viable option.

Treatment for Arrhythmia
