TEETH WHITENING

NDC offers a variety of teeth whitening services to suit your needs.

  1. Teeth whitening: professional in-office bleaching
  2. Teeth whitening: dentist supervised home bleaching
  3. Teeth whitening: walking bleach
In-office Chair Side Bleaching
  • for the busy individual who wants "instant" results
  • teeth can be whitened in 1 sitting within 1-2 hours
  • we use light activated bleaching gels to speed up the process, severely discoloured teeth may need repeat treatment
  • with proper care, results can last 1 year
Dentist Supervised Home Bleaching
  • we will fabricate a customized tray to hold the bleach
  • you will be provided syringes of the bleaching gel and taught how to use it
  • bleaching is done at your convenience at home, for 1-2 hours a day
  • this method of tooth whitening is less costly than in-office bleaching. The bleaching process is gradual, over a few weeks, but is kinder to your teeth
  • we will review your progress regularly until the desired shade is achieved
Walking Bleach
A discoloured anterior tooth after root canal treatment, can be bleached. Root canal treated teeth with larger restorations are better crowned than bleached.
  • A bleaching compound is placed inside the pulp chamber and sealed into the tooth
  • The patient is reviewed in 2 weeks time and if the tooth has been whitened sufficiently, the bleaching compound is removed and the tooth restored.
Walking bleach is done by an Endodontist.

Side Effects of Teeth Whitening
  • transient tooth sensitivity, but this can be managed by your dentist
  • gum irritation (more likely to occur with high concentration of bleaches)
