People needing the services of a physiotherapist or podiatrist can now visit rehabilitation centres at three SingHealth polyclinics – Geylang, Tampines and Sengkang. This network of centres, known as Rehabilitation Associates, is run by the Singapore General Hospital.

The satellite centres benefit patients referred for such services by Polyclinic doctors and general practitioners. The satellite centres not only offer convenience to patients living in the area but also help to reduce competition with other hospital patients for rehabilitation appointments at the hospitals.

The physiotherapy services focus on musculoskeletal conditions such as back or neck pain, shoulder and knee pain mainly from sports and arthritic problems. For patients with neurological conditions, home visits can be arranged. Podiatry services also provide help in managing diabetic foot, skin and nail conditions.

As a private unit of SGH, treatment charges are similar to those in
SGH and below that of private physiotherapy and Podiatry clinics. The average bill size for patients ranges from $25 to $52 per session. There is no subsidy for patients referred to these centres.

The centre at Sengkang Polyclinic has a small gymnasium and offers comprehensive  exercise and fitness programmes for health promotion and disease prevention. Facilities there enables the podiatrist to produce foot insoles and other prosthetic foot wear needed by patients with diabetes and other musculo-skeletal conditions especially sports and flat or pronated feet.
