A bouquet of thanks!
Feb 16, 2006 World-class service at Singapore General Hospital
MY MOTHER-IN-LAW had a fall outside OG department store in Orchard Road on Saturday. She suffered a deep cut and her left ear was bleeding profusely. Passers-by offered to take her to hospital, but she declined, thinking her injury was only an abrasion.
I want to thank the individuals who came forward to help her, especially those who flagged down a taxi for her to return home safely.
Our family then took her to a clinic near our home where the doctor said the injury to her ear required specialist treatment. She was then referred to the Accident & Emergency Department in Singapore General Hospital.
Having heard many negative reports about A&E departments, we were pleasantly surprised at the impeccable service in SGH.
Registration, assessment by a nurse, and, finally, treatment by an ear, nose and throat specialist all took about two hours. We were impressed by the caring staff.
My family and I want to thank the A&E Department staff and Dr Chan, the EN&T specialist, who attended to my mother-in-law. It makes me proud that when our hospitals boast of giving world-class service, they keep their word.
