| Going beyond the call of duty
Ten outstanding enrolled nurses from seven healthcare institutions were honoured at the annual Tan Chin Tuan Nursing Awards this evening. The Award, which is the highest accolade for enrolled nurses in Singapore, recognises promising and talented enrolled nurses who are dedicated to advancing the nursing profession. SingHealth nurses garnered 4 of the awards.

| SingHealth supports President’s Challenge 2008 with record total of more than $400,000 in cash and kind -- More than $100,000 worth of health screening for the public and beneficiaries
A strong health focus underlies SingHealth’s community outreach and fund-raising efforts for this year’s President’s Challenge. Themed “Healthcare, I Care!” Day, SingHealth institutions on the Outram Campus rallied together to volunteer time and effort to organise mass free health screenings, a rehabilitation carnival, and a health walk, to encourage the public and beneficiaries to take ownership of their health and keep active. Its fund-raising drive, which kicked off in August, raised a total of $300,000 for the beneficiaries of President's Challenge 2008.

Group nursing director conferred adjunct associate professorship by
two top universities in Australia and Singapore
SingHealth celebrated the conferment of its first nursing professor today. Madam Lim Swee Hia, Group Director, Nursing, was appointed Adjunct Associate Professor by Curtin University of Technology, Australia, and Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, National University of Singapore, in recognition of her inspiring leadership and immense contributions to Singapore's nursing profession.

About 300 healthcare leaders and professionals came together to share conversations on the true meaning of medicine at a special event organised by SingHealth. A new book entitled “Behind the Stethoscope – Reflections of a Life in Medicine” penned by 56 doctors, which chronicles their personal journeys, reflections, and defining moments in the practice of medicine, was also launched at the event.
