| SingHealth joins United Nations Global Compact
SingHealth & SGH signed the United Nations Global Compact in a special ceremony on Friday, 20 April 2007. SingHealth's participation in the Global Compact demonstrates our commitment to corporate social responsibility.
The U.N. Global Compact has been signed by more than 2,900 companies around the world and embraces 10 principles covering human rights, fair labor, the environment, and anti-corruption. The Global Compact, established in July 2000, seeks to promote responsible corporate citizenship by providing a framework for businesses to follow in response to the challenges of globalization.
The Global Compact is not a regulatory instrument – it does not " police", enforce or measure the behavior or actions of companies. Rather, the Global Compact relies on public accountability, transparency and the enlightened self-interest of companies, labour and civil society to initiate and share substantive action in pursuing the principles upon which the Global Compact is based.
