Taking Nursing Forward – Alice Lee Institute of Advanced Nursing Scholarships
~ Leading in Nurse Education for Singapore and the region ~
Singapore, 1 August 2005 - SingHealth aims to have a steady pool of nursing talents contributing towards a vibrant healthcare education hub, with its nucleus at Outram Campus. As part of its commitment to recognise the dedication and competence of nurses, SingHealth continuously explore various ways to expand the scope and enhance the calibre of its nurses and nursing leaders.
The Alice Lee Institute of Advanced Nursing (IAN) Scholarship is established to encourage and provide for SingHealth nurses who wish to realise their academic goals through local and overseas universities. The Scholarship allows in-service SingHealth nurses to undertake their undergraduate and post-graduate education (e.g. Bachelor, Master and PhD degrees) in areas that will make a significant contribution to patient management and care in Singapore.
For the inaugural batch, SingHealth will be giving out 13 scholarships to nurses across it institutions. 7 of these nurses will be pursuing their Bachelor degree, 3 doing their Masters of Nurses and 3 will be embarking on their PhDs.
Alice Lee Institute of Advanced Nursing (IAN)
The Alice Lee Institute of Advanced Nursing (IAN) is a central institution that provides a comprehensive range of nursing specialisation programmes and practice-based training in Singapore. It first originated at Outram Campus as the SGH Institute of Advanced Nursing (IAN) in Feb 1997.
With the generous donation of $10 million from the Lee Foundation towards nurse education, SingHealth was able to launch the Alice Lee IAN scholarship in year 2004 to take nursing forward through grooming and developing the growth of a fleet of competent nurse leaders in Singapore and the region.
