in Gastroenterology and Hepatology as well as their
individual clinical sub-specialties namely, acute and
chronic hepatitis, chronic liver diseases, alcoholic
liver disease, inflammatory bowel disease, nutrition

Hepatitis Therapeutic Clinic, Constipation Clinic and
Inflammatory Bowel Disease Clinic.
The department provides advanced specialty training
and training for medical undergraduates. At any one
time, the department is able to train 4 advanced specialty
trainees. The department is recognized for its training
by the Specialist Accreditation Board.
There are multiple investigator-initiated and industry-sponsored
clinical studies that are on going, specifically targeted
at peptic ulcer disease, viral hepatitis, portal hypertension
and inflammatory bowel disease. In addition, the department
has a basic science laboratory where molecular research
in gastrointestinal and liver diseases are undertaken.
