The Gynaecological Oncology Unit is accredited by the Royal Australia-New Zealand College of O&G as a tertiary referral centre.

The chief objectives of the KK Gynaecological Oncology Centre are to:

  • Provide a comprehensive and seamless range of services for gynaecological cancer treatment
  • Lead in the prevention of gynaecologic cancers
  • Serve as a centralized registry for gynaecological cancers
  • Lead and collaborate in research programs

OVERVIEW OF BST TRAINING PROGRAM

Basic trainees will be equipped over a six-month period in the following areas:

ACADEMIC KNOWLEDGE

  • General Oncology
  • Cervical Cancer
  • Uterine Cancer
  • Ovarian Cancer
  • Other Gynaecological Cancers

AMBULATORY PATIENT CARE SKILLS

  • Colposcopy : complete requirement for KK Basic Colposcopy Recognition Course
  • Able to perform LEEP & Laser vaporisation
  • Exposure to comprehensive cancer clinics
  • Ambulatory Chemotherapy

SURGICAL SKILLS

  • The ability to evaluate the clinical stage of cervical cancer and perform cystoscopy
  • Understand the concept and procedures of surgical staging for uterine cancer and ovarian cancer
  • The ability to open an abdomen using midline and transverse incisions
  • The ability to perform a simple hysterectomy under guidance confidently
  • Basic principles of surgery
  • The ability to knot suture confidently
  • Develop Oncological Surgery skills
  • Cancer Staging
  • Hysterectomy and PLND
  • Ovarian Cancer Staging / Debulking
  • General Gynaecological Surgery
