The department supports the division of O&G in the specialty of High Risk Obstetrics and Fetal Medicine. On average KK Women’s and Children’s Hospital conducts 15,000 deliveries per year, and this provides an ideal training ground for both basic and advanced trainees in the specialty of O&G.

The training provided is divided into formal, structured training and less formal but supervised apprenticeship.
STRUCTURED TRAINING
The department is accredited for basic and advanced antenatal ultrasound scanning training and provides supervised apprenticeship for BST and AST.
Basic & Advanced Trainees are rotated to cover sub-specialty areas in the following clinics:
- Birth Defect Clinic
- High Risk Consultation
- Diabetic Clinic
- Obstetric Medical Disorder Clinic
- Prenatal High Risk Clinic / Obstetric High Risk Clinic
- LSCS Audit
The department has an active interest in clinical-epidemiological and laboratory research. All department staff are encouraged to participate in the various ongoing projects.
