The Department
of General Medicine at CGH comprises four major specialties
with divisional capability plus a host of other specialty
services to support patients admitted for general medical
illness. These are:
- Cardiology
- Gastroenterology
- Geriatric Medicine
- Psychological Medicine
Other Specialty Services:
- Dermatology
- Endocrinology
- Infectious Disease
- Intensive Care
- Neurology
- Rehabilitation Medicine
- Respiratory Medicine
Senior Consultants, Consultants and Associate Consultants
of the various specialties work as a team to provide
general medical services in CGH.
There are on going clinical and laboratory based research
in the various aspects of internal medicine.
The Department of General Medicine is accredited for
both basic and advance specialty training in internal
medicine.
Basic Internal Medicine trainees can complete the required
3-year posting to be eligible for the Masters of Medicine
(Int. Med) and the Member of Royal College of Physician
(UK) qualifying exams. Basic trainees will attend lectures,
tutorials, grand rounds and specific training to prepare
them for these exams.
With regards to sub-specialty training, full accreditation
is accorded for Gastroenterology, the rest of the sub-specialties
are partially accredited. Specific training programs
are arranged to assist advance trainees in their career
development.
Department of Medicine has been accredited by the Academy
of Medicine, Singapore.
The department is accredited by the School of Postgraduate
Medicine for complete Basic Internal Medicine training.
Trainees are eligible to take the M.Med (Int. Med) (Singapore)
or MRCP examination at the end of postings.
This is a 3-year program designed to train internists
in both ambulatory and hospital care.
