As a MO, you will undergo six-monthly postings every year. The physical changeover happens yearly in May and November. Newly recruited MOs may commence postings at any time of the year but will switch posting with all MOs at the next changeover date.

MOs who wish to pursue the specialist training may apply for Basic Specialist Traineeship (BST).  View a list of BST specialties available.

Available postings will be made available closer to each MOPEX for your choosing.

SingHealth Traineeship Posting Programme

SingHealth has also developed its very own structured traineeship posting programme to provide a more comprehensive posting experience for our doctors.  Two such programmes have been developed - Internal Medicine Traineeship Programme and SGH Surgical Posting Programme.

In order for training resources and talent to be maximized regardless of cluster, MOPEX is a joint exercise between SingHealth and National Healthcare Group (NHG). You may choose postings from either cluster to complement your overall training plan.

You may also pursue postings in the many external health institutes that currently have a standing arrangement with SingHealth. These include Health Promotion Board, Health Science Authority, Ang Mo Kio Community Hospital and others.

Postings are assigned twice a year through the Medical Officer Posting Exercise (MOPEX). When MOPEX is open, you will be asked to submit applications for your next posting. You may do so through the forms made available to you, or you can use IMMS to do an Intranet online application.

Choice-Driven MOPEX was introduced in November 2003. As a medical officer, your preferred choice of posting and the available vacancies in the various clinical departments will be matched.  Check out the MOPEX policy on our intranet.

Medical Officer Trainees (MOT) are given priority in choices of posting that align with STC requirements. Medical officers who have performed well in their previous postings will be accorded a higher chance to their chosen postings.
