House Officers are required to do 3 postings each of 4 months duration. In order to ensure a broad exposure to both medical and surgical specialties at the house officer level, postings are offered in fixed combinations.

Five combinations of specialty are available. All combinations include a compulsory posting in Internal Medicine. You can indicate your preferred postings/hospitals when you apply for internship, but they must fall within one of the following combinations.

- Medicine / Surgery / Obstetrics & Gynaecology (O&G)
- Medicine / Orthopaedic Surgery / Paediatric Medicine
- Medicine / Orthopaedic Surgery / O & G
- Medicine / Surgery / Paediatric Medicine
- Medicine / Orthopaedic Surgery / Surgery

Even as we try to match you to your first choices, limited places are available in each posting / combination and you may not always be able to obtain your first choice.

Local NUS graduates will commence internship in May and end in April. Overseas graduates may commence internship at any time of the year.
