| Why SingHealth Residency |
As the largest sponsoring institution (SI) for the Residency Program in Singapore, SingHealth provides the ideal graduate medical education (GME) environment to best nurture competent medical practitioners – our healthcare leaders of tomorrow.
This can be attributed to our rich legacy in medical education, renowned faculty pool and pursuit of excellence in providing quality patient care.
SingHealth’s key features include -
| |
-
Largest healthcare cluster in Singapore: The SingHealth group comprises 3 Hospitals (SGH, CGH, KKH), 5 National Specialty Centres (NCCS, NDC, NHC, NNI, SNEC) and a network of 9 Polyclinics, making us the single most comprehensive healthcare delivery system in Singapore. This strong consolidation of clinical expertise and medical best practices provides a competitive and holistic learning environment at the forefront of GME.

-
Partnership with a US Graduate Medical School: SingHealth's close partnership with the Duke-NUS GMS goes beyond graduate medical education, allowing us to effectively encompass residency training in specialist healthcare programs. Our faculty will be complemented by our US education partner in receiving first-hand experience and access to US-style specialty training.
-
Wide range of patient case mix: With an extensive spread of patient case mixes across our institutions, residents can expect to gain exposure to a broad spectrum of medical conditions, treatments and case studies.
-
A relevant, beneficial Residency Program: We are committed to making the residency program a success for aspiring doctors. Our top leaders, including the Cluster DIO, hospitals CMBs and residency PDs have gone on US study missions to learn residency best practices from institutions like the Duke University and University of Texas. Even our faculty and administrative staff undergo training to advance their expertise on the program’s implementation.

-
Team-based learning (TBL) system: In collaboration with the Duke-NUS GMS, SingHealth has adopted a TBL system in its education curriculum. This is strategic in emphasizing active learning that requires knowledge application to authentic programs in real-life clinical settings. Facilitation is done by our TBL-equipped faculty who are trained professionally by the Duke-NUS TeamLEAD curriculum developer.
-
Innovative teaching methods: Keeping up with the digital age and advancing technology, SingHealth leverages on innovative pedagogy methods such as medical simulation, interactive games, digital media and eLearning in GME. Such optimises residents’ learning experiences and effectiveness.
-
Dynamic campus life: Apart from work and training, residents can be part of a dynamic campus life featuring an array of social and special interest activities for them to unwind in, relax and network with other healthcare practitioners.
-
Education publishing: In complementing medical education, SingHealth has a publishing arm producing healthcare resources written by our faculty and even medical trainees. These include medical cases for teaching purposes, textbooks and our very own Singapore Health Medical Journal.
