Dr Hairil Rizal Abdullah
Registrar
Dept of Anaesthesiology, SGH
Training here provides me with exposure to a wide variety of medical and surgical conditions, experience in managing complex and high risk cases as well as a whole range of surgical disciplines and subspecialties. Being here also enhances my communication skills, nurtures my interest towards clinical research as well as provides me with ample opportunities to be involved in academic and teaching activities. Most importantly, as a trainee confronted with challenges, it is always comforting and reassuring to know I have a large number of senior anaesthesiologists whom I can always depend on for support and advice.
Dr Amanda Lee
SingHealth Resident
(2nd Year Trainee),
Diagnostic Radiology Residency Program
I like Radiology because it is a discipline that touches all specialties which makes it interesting. Patients rarely have just "one" problem and being able to understand a spectrum of diseases is important. I find the training at SingHealth to be structured: there are regular tutorials and lectures and there is a good level of supervision. At the same time, there are plenty of opportunities for practical experience in performing radiological procedures and reporting scans. It also helps that the people are really nice and friendly!

Dr Lam Kai Yet
Medical Officer (Trainee)
Dept of General Surgery, SGH
What struck me most about the Dept of General Surgery at SGH is the work ethos. I've worked in several other departments at various hospitals, but never have I seen such drive and commitment, which emanates down from the consultants and registrars, to my fellow medical officers. While the long hours and ceaseless amount of work wears and tires me out, I get motivated just by observing the likes of Dr. Alexander Chung, Prof Wong Wai Keong, Dr. Chan Weng Hoong and Dr. Tan Seck Guan.

Training in the largest healthcare cluster in Singapore provides me an exposure of both breadth and depth that is unmatched by any other institution. Also, right in the core of the training is the dedicated faculty that comprises some of the best clinicians and most passionate educators. I enjoy training here as there is comprehensive training and guidance available through the different rotations, and more importantl, it is a good working environment with many supportive seniors.
Dr Gavin Tan Siew Wei
Advanced Surgical Trainee

There is a strong culture of teaching at SNEC. There are structured teaching sessions and trainees are given protected time to ensure that they are not overwhelmed by service needs to the detriment of their education. More importantly, the members of staff at every level, from registrar to senior consultant, are always keen on imparting knowledge and would never hesitate to offer advice to the juniors.
Dr Elton Ong
Dept of Orthopedic Surgery, SGH
The SGH Orthopedic Department is the largest and most established orthopedic unit in Singapore. We have the highest patient load, perform the largest number of orthopedic procedures and is recognized as the leading regional center for complicated orthopedic surgeries. Training here has allowed me to have a quantitative and qualitative appreciation of Orthopedics. Most importantly, our consultants are passionate, highly-trained and widely regarded, with successful clinical practices and decades of operative experience under their belt.
Dr Constance Teo
Registrar
Dept of Otolaryngology, SGH
I have been with SingHealth since my housemanship days. During my ENT training, I had the chance to rotate through SGH, CGH and KKH where I saw a whole spectrum of cases from newborns to adults, and from simple tonsillectomies to state-of-the-art robotic surgeries. The seniors here have a wealth of experience to tap into and are keen on imparting their knowledge. Also, SingHealth has a full complement of well-established clinical departments -- the opportunity to rotate through the other departments has been useful to my development as an ENT surgeon.
Dr Soo Kai Ling
Medical Officer
Dept of Pathology, SGH
My posting at pathology is the first I actually enjoyed going to work for. It is here that I begin to appreciate and apply the knowledge on pathology acquired in medical school. My favorite part is that there is always a friendly consultant, registrar or senior nearby to teach, challenge and even tease me. It is a department that makes me feel at home.

Transitional Year Residency Program
My learning experience in the Transitional Year Residency Program has been a very fulfilling one. Apart from my work in the wards, I get opportunities to go to clinics and assist in the operating theatres. I also meet up with my Program Director at least once a month to receive feedback regarding my performance and be taught ways to improve myself. It's my pleasure to be part of this program.
