Overview
A six-year structured program, the Orthopedics Residency Program at SingHealth is set to equip you with the knowledge, skills and attitudes required of an orthopedic surgeon upon the completion of your training.
Through an educational and supportive environment, we aim to develop you into a well-rounded orthopedic surgeon capable of dealing with the multitude of problems that afflict the musculoskeletal system such as, among others, musculoskeletal trauma, congenital disorders, sports injuries or degenerative diseases. Your training includes clinical activities, didactic lectures, dedicated research time and regular weekly conferences. Supervision and guidance will be given from a team of senior mentors and experience faculty.
As a resident, you would function as an invaluable member of the healthcare team and participate in ward rounds, outpatient specialist clinics and surgeries. With comprehensive training, timely supervision, formative assessments and nurturing mentors, you can expect to progress from one postgraduate year to the next with greater empowerment to practice as an orthopedic surgeon.

Orthopedics in SingHealth is supported by a specialized Orthopedic Diagnostic Centre (ODC), the only one of its kind in Singapore. The center was set up with the objective of tracking clinical outcomes in an objective manner, for a variety of orthopedic procedures. These outcomes have been benchmarked against internationally published data from the leading orthopedic centers in the world and have revolutionized the thought process of trainees during their attachment with us. With the quantity and quality of data collected, the ODC has also contributed to research that has led to numerous peer-reviewed publications.
