Dr Tan Ru San is the Senior Consultant, Department of Cardiology and Director, Clinical Trials at the National Heart Centre Singapore.
He graduated with his Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery from the National University of Singapore in 1991 and obtained his Membership of the Royal College of Physicians (United Kingdom) in 1996.
Dr Tan received his Certification in Nuclear Cardiology from the Certification Board of Nuclear Cardiology, the American Society of Nuclear Cardiology, USA in 2002.
He did his fellowship at the Royal Brompton Hospital, UK in 2000 and is a Fellow of the Academy of Medicine, Singapore since 2000.
Dr Tan's sub-specialty interest is in non-invasive diagnostic cardiac imaging, and has clinical experience in cardiovascular magnetic resonance imaging, echocardiography and nuclear cardiology. His research interests include cardiac magnetic resonance imaging in diverse cardiological conditions, including ischaemic heart failure, siderotic cardiomyopathy in major thalassaemia, cardiac biomechanics etc.
