Singapore General Hospital (SGH) and SingHealth Group today launched the inaugural issue of Singapore Health – a newspaper reporting on health-related matters affecting Singaporeans.

The bimonthly, tabloid-sized newspaper, which covers health and wellness, the latest medical breakthroughs, healthcare services and tips on navigating hospital processes, aims to elevate the level of health literacy among Singaporeans. Its content is packaged to make a digestible, informative and insightful read. Drawing on expert views and the specialist knowledge of medical professionals within SGH and the SingHealth Group, the newspaper hopes to be a practical and useful resource of information for readers.

Singapore Press Holdings (SPH) Magazines is the appointed publishing agent.

"Our partnership with SPH Magazines is more than just commercial. Jointly, we hope to break new grounds in empowering Singaporeans to be better partners with their doctors, especially in shared decision-making," said Mrs Tan-Huang Shuo Mei, Group Director, Communications & Service Quality, SingHealth and SGH.

SGH previously published OutramNow, a newspaper focusing on the latest developments in and around the SGH Campus at Outram Road. In a bid to maximise its appeal, SGH and the SingHealth Group continued with the successful newspaper format to present in-depth coverage on a wide variety of health-related topics, and added a dedicated Chinese language section. Singapore Health will also see an increased circulation, with more distribution points to widen its reach.

The 40,000 copies of Singapore Health will be available at the three hospitals, five national speciality centres and selected polyclinics under the SingHealth umbrella. Copies will also be handed out at high-traffic points within the CBD area.

The inaugural November-December 2009 issue was officially launched today.
