SingHealth, Microsoft in new system tie-up
The Business Times - pg 10
SINGHEALTH and Microsoft yesterday announced a 10-year partnership to establish an integrated radiology management system.
The tie-up involves enhancing Microsoft’s existing Amalga Hospital Information System (HIS) radiology management solution and replacing the current radiology information and picture archiving and communication systems.
The integrated system will first be implemented this year at Singapore General Hospital (SGH).
By 2011, other SingHealth institutions, such as the National Cancer Centre and KK Women’s and Children’s Hospital, will join SGH in running the enhanced Amalga HIS platform, enabling more efficient sharing of patient images across all member hospitals in the SingHealth group.
Wong Yue Sie, chief operating officer of SingHealth and SGH and clinician leader for the partnership, said it “brings SingHealth one step closer to supporting the Health Ministry’s vision of a national electronic health record system”.
This is the first collaboration between SingHealth and Microsoft to enhance the Amalga HIS platform.
The longer-term plan is to develop an enterprise-wide clinical imaging platform.
